What is Intense Pulse Light Treatment?
Intense Pulse Light treatment is a non-invasive photo rejuvenation treatment that acts mainly on hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and vascular conditions such as rosacea.
Uses of IPL
IPL can treat a number of different skin conditions including:
How Long Does Treatment Take?
IPL treatment is usually regarded as a lunchtime procedure and it generally takes about 30 minutes to an hour to complete, though this will depend on the specific skin condition as well as the number of areas you wish to address.
Is it painful?
Each pulse of light is similar to a slight pinch, sting, or pinprick – some patients have even compared it to the snap of a rubber band. Overall, treatment is generally well tolerated.
How many sessions are required?
For optimal results, we often recommend a series of about five-six treatments spaced approximately three to four weeks apart; however, this may vary depending on your skin type and concern.
What Happens After The Treatment?
Immediately following your IPL treatment, you may notice a slight redness and some darkening of brown spots. Most brown spots take from 3-10 days to completely slough off. Sun protection and a light moisturizer is recommended following the treatment. It has minimal to no downtime and most patients resume their normal daily routines shortly after leaving our clinic.
What About Side Effects?
Side effects from IPL therapy can include some temporary redness in the treated area. It can often be concealed with makeup and should resolve relatively quickly. Additionally, you may notice some darkening of any brown spots that were targeted during treatment, but this too should fade over the course of a few days as your skin heals from within.
IPL Treatments available at SKIN DECOR?
At Skin Decor Dermatology, we have the state-of-art Harmony XL PRO’s Advanced Fluorescence TechnologyTM(AFT), an advanced form of intense pulsed light technology (IPL). Rather than delivering a pulse with multiple wavelengths, many of which are outside the therapeutic range, AFT converts unused UV light to the optimal spectrum for more effective treatment.
AFT offers more efficient energy usage per pulse, increased safety, extended applicator lifetime, and enhanced clinical results. We also provide simultaneous cooling with a sapphire tip which minimizes any side effects that may occur.
AFT technology offers a safer and significantly more effective solution than other IPL-based treatment systems.
Our Skin Rejuve IPL photorejuvenation technology offers an exceptional level of service and treatment outcomes.
